Oxford’s Unabridged Dictionary has over 500,000 entries describing the English language. Yet, with these are other entries, there seems to be a need in modern America to coin new words. I contend that creating new words is unnecessary and lazy. However, I believe creating new phrases is helpful in that a phrase creates new metaphors. New words only isolate meaning among those that understand the code, but a good metaphor invites understanding. I’m not saying that I am successful in my endeavor, but I have such a bad habit of coining phrases, that I wanted a place to explain them.
